Apparently, some CPS schools have stopped giving out detentions for being tardy to class and often refuses to give detentions to students ejected from class, leading one teacher to ask a good question:
"How much of the enthusiasm for charter schools is due to their tracking & exclusivity and how much is due to their curriculum & methods? It seems to me that the former reasons are the real ones, but it is more politically sensitive to promote them using the latter reasons."
If you're interested in meeting and talking about these and other issues, there's a discussion group meeting next week in Evaston. It meets monthly. For more information, you can email the organizer at [email protected]. And be sure to let us know if anything interesting gets raised.
I am interested in attending the meeting and would like to know specifics, date, time, location.
