Do's And Don'ts Of Community Involvement

Coverwinter07As some of you who helped me know, I was during the fall working on an article about the benefits -- and difficulties -- of community involvement, based on Chicago's Renaissance 2010 experience.  It finally came out a few days ago in HeadFirst, a school reform magazine published in Colorado.

"There’s a myth popular in some quarters that community involvement is a silver bullet for creating new  schools," begins the article (The Do's and Don'ts of Community Involvement  An Overdue Awakening).  "In reality, it doesn’t always work that way."

The magazine (which includes a number of articles on the same topic) can be read here.  Take a look, tell me what you think.

Are you referring to the "article" by Alan Gottleib? I don't blame you for not using your real name. Is that some sort of joke. I hope they didn't pay him (you?) for that silly list. And BTW, who are these "some quarters" who pose community engagement as a "silver bullet?" Is your simple-minded little list of "do's and don'ts" supposed to be a silver bullet?

oops -- my article is this one, not the other one.
